our school
Our school dates back to 1866 and is situated in the quiet village of Burgh by Sands. We have quite a large catchment area, covering all the neighbouring villages and hamlets such as Kirkbampton, Grinsdale, Longburgh, Beaumont, Kirkandrews on Eden and beyond, into the western side of Carlisle. Our school will soon become accessible to the toddlers and children of the North and Northwest of Carlisle when the Northern Development Route is completed in 2011.
We have lovely open aspects for our children to enjoy, huge open playing fields with views across the Lake District Fells and Pennines.
Along with recent extensive refurbishments and extensions to our Nursery Block and Library, we have recently invested in new play equipment for the playground, as well as new computer equipment for the development of our IT department.
We believe that spending your first years of education in a village school, amongst teachers that care and know every child individually, can only enhance your child’s development, and although this is a small friendly village school, we know that all four class rooms are dynamic environments in which to learn.
