Eagle Class (Years 5 & 6)
We’re excited to have you here with us this year! Our teacher, Miss Hodnett, is joined by the wonderful Miss Haughey, who is here to support us every step of the way.
To help us have a productive day, please remember to bring your water bottle, reading book, reading record, and spelling book to class each day. On Mondays, all students should wear their PE kits for dance and handball activities. Friday mornings are dedicated to our forest school adventures, so please dress in clothes that can get messy, wear waterproofs, and bring a spare pair of shoes.
Homework will be assigned every Monday and is due the following Monday. This usually includes a Mathletics assignment and practice on TTRockstars. Each week, students will also receive spelling words to learn using Spelling Shed and their spelling books - login details can be found in your child’s reading record. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Miss Hodnett.
We encourage everyone to read for at least 20 minutes three times a week to foster a love for reading!
This half term, we have an exciting learning journey ahead! Our topic, “Disaster!”, kicks off with an exploration of historical volcanic eruptions. To conclude our ‘Wild Water’ topic, we will visit Bolton Fell Moss and create an art project in school inspired by the works of Claude Monet. In Science, we’ll delve into the properties of materials. In English, we’ll be building on our previous storytelling work by crafting our own meeting tales. Plus, our whole class reading book is the incredible picture book, The Arrival by Shaun Tan.
We’re looking forward to a fantastic half term filled with learning, fun, and creativity, and we can’t wait to share this journey with you!
