Art
Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.
At Burgh by Sands School, we encourage children to explore a wide range of media and materials to develop their skills and knowledge as artists.
Our Art curriculum begins in Early Years, where children are given the freedom to play with colour, texture, and design, igniting their creativity from an early age. As they progress through the school, these opportunities grow with them, allowing each child to experiment, invent, and create their own works of art, craft, and design using various materials and techniques.
Our curriculum inspires pupils not only to create but also to evaluate the works of famous artists and designers, developing an understanding of the role and significance of art in culture and history. Through art, children learn to express themselves confidently, think critically, and appreciate the value of creativity both in school and beyond. We aim to foster a lifelong love for art, imagination, and self-expression, equipping our pupils with the skills to approach the world with creativity and curiosity.
