Geography
The world is full of things that can inspire us, if we open our eyes to them.
At Burgh by Sands School, we recognise that some children may have limited experiences beyond their local community. Our geography curriculum is designed to provide all pupils with opportunities to explore and understand the wider world and global communities they may not otherwise encounter.
Our engaging topics encourage pupils to investigate both physical and human processes, helping them understand why the world is shaped the way it is. As children progress through Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, we focus on enhancing their mapping skills and geographical vocabulary, equipping them with the tools to navigate and understand their environment.
We utilise a variety of resources, including atlases, globes, and satellite images, to enrich our lessons and make learning interactive. Additionally, we emphasise the importance of the local environment, encouraging children to observe and appreciate the world around them.
Through hands-on experiences and explorations, we aim to foster a sense of curiosity and responsibility for our planet, inspiring our pupils to become informed and engaged global citizens.
